Bergen Ballpark

The proposed 8,000 capacity stadium and home to the Bergen Cliff Hawks. As of now the Bergen Cliff Hawks don't even exist, probably because they don't have a place to play. The Cliff Hawks would be an expansion team in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. The teams currently in the league are the Bridgeport Bluefish, Camden Riversharks, Lancaster Barnstormers, Long Island Ducks, Newark Bears, Somerset Patriots, Southern Maryland Blue Crabs, and the York Revolution.

Some players of note in this league are:
  • John Halama: played in 9 major league seasons with the Astros, Mariners, A's, Rays, Red Sox, Nationals and Orioles.
  • Carl Everett: Two time all-star who once broke up Mike Mussina's perfect game at Fenway by swinging at a pitch over his head and singling to center. I'm not bitter. I prefer to think of him for some of his off the field exploits. My favorite is his denial of the existence of dinosaurs:
God created the sun, the stars, the heavens and the earth, and then made Adam and Eve. The Bible never says anything about dinosaurs. You can't say there were dinosaurs when you never saw them. Somebody actually saw Adam and Eve. No one ever saw a Tyrannosaurus rex.
  • Eric Crozier: played 14 games for the Toronto Blue Jays in 2004 and I somehow remembered that while looking at some of the rosters.
  • Curtis Pride: Best known for being a deaf baseball player, he played 11 major league seasons.
  • Brandon Knight: Played 11 games for the Yankees in 01 and 02.
  • Few others that I don't feel like listing.
Anyway, back to the stadium. I doubt it will look like it does in the picture above. The biggest issue holding all this up is legal and financial details. I don't really care about the details but apparently there was pressure put on Xanadu to have a baseball stadium to help it be considered an entertainment super complex instead of a mall. I think that most of this stuff is a few years old but there is no new news so I needed something to post. Maybe I'll start following the Atlantic League now.
